Outside Lehman building, artist captures scorn: Public, Lehman workers invited to comment on portrait of company’s CEO

NEW YORK - When controversy looms on Wall Street, chances are that Geoffrey Raymond isn't far behind, magic markers in hand.

The 54-year-old Brooklyn artist has become a regular sight lately on the scene of big Wall Street fiascos, where he gives the public a chance to vent by scrawling comments on his oversized portraits of powerful corporate executives.

He spent Monday and Tuesday outside the Manhattan headquarters of Lehman Brothers, urging passers-by to sign his latest work, a painting of the investment bank's chief executive, Richard Fuld.

go see the movie The First Saturday in May

i just had a fabulous evening watching a movie about the journey to the Kentucky Derby. it's an indie film and there was a nice size crowd. Carson Kressley was also there this evening (he was in the movie).

it's really interesting to see the journey from the beginning. everyone has high hopes and dreams, but only one person can win. you're rooting for everyone, but the reality is that someone has to lose.

i'm going to get the DVD because i have to have this movie in my collection. if you're in NYC and free tomorrow, one of the trainers from the movie will be at the showing tomorrow. he's never seen the movie with a crowd, so i really wish i didn't have to work tomorrow!

it's truly a joy and the proceeds benefit the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation (equine research).

i'm not a big race fan, but this is the best movie every about the journey. it's funny and real and you just have to connect with one of the trainers. it's an indie film and it needs our support. if you're free tomorrow in one of the many cities it's premiering, get out and see it.

NYCares Hands On New York @ Marine Park

okay, this is an annual NYCares volunteer event and this year i had the opportunity to clean Marine Park in Brooklyn. the park is huge! there were mice and worms and garden snakes! OMG! i don't like snakes of any kind. all the same it was for a good cause. we made a nice dent, but there's plenty more work to be done.

Anyone who will be in the NY area on Thursday, April 3rd at 8PM is invited to come to the Diabetic Rockstar Concert! The event will be held at the John Street Bar on 17 John Street(Financial District). ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT the "Fight It campaign", raising money for uninsured, financially struggling and newly diagnosed diabetics!

EVERYONE(well 21+) IS WELCOME! Headliners: Wiser Time and Mere with a special performance by The D Street Afflux.

NY Governor To Resign?

NY Governor Eliot Spitzer is expected to resign. He admitted to officials that he has been involved in a high-end prostitution ring called The Emperors Club VIP. The call-girl ring rented out prostitutes at rates up to $5,500 per hour. Reports suggest that he was "client number 9" and that he met with an employee on February 13 in Washington D.C.

Spitzer was supposed to have a meeting with Cardinal Egan today, but the meeting was just cancelled.

Spitzer was caught because of phone records that linked him to the prostitution ring. A statement from Spitzer is expected to be released momentarily. Politics and scandal go together like peanut butter and jelly so this shouldn't be too shocking.

NYCares Coat Drive: feel good sorting coats

hey new yorkers! every year NYCares holds their annual Coat Drive and this year i decided to not only hold a coat drive at my job, but also sort coats. i can't tell you how amazed i was to see the number of coats in the warehouse. to date they had given out 34,000 coats and there were many more to sort.

i gotta say i left last thursday feeling really tired, but really good. it's one thing to donate, but it's another thing to load hundreds of coats into the vans and trucks of charities and churches. it's a dirty job (believe that). and people donate everything in a coat drive.

if you've got a few hours (2-3 hours), you can contact NYCares and help sort the remainding number of coats. they need volunteers through january 30th. go to nycares.com for more information.

well, my body is feeling a little better now. i'm still a little tired, but i'm happy that i had time in times square. i really did cry when the ball came down. it wasn't about the ball...i was just happy to be going home!

this is surely something you have to do at least once in your lifetime. i will never do this again...believe that!
